So I was thinking about trying out the aiptasia zapper to kill some majanos that have taken over. I figured why not when a friend said I could borrow his. But then I was thinking about how it releases hydrogen? or chlorine? something, that is not good for the tank. Now the last thing I would want to do is hurt my fish so unless we are sure it is safe, I won't use it.

Just got a new baby angelfish who I care more about than electrocuting majanos no matter how fun it sounds.

You are absolutely correct when you say that the hydrogen and chlorine gas is not good for the tank but the quantity of gas released from those wands are on such minimal levels that the only way you may hurt your tank is if you zap about 100 majanos in one sitting in very small tank. Just take your time and borrow it for a few days and knock out 10 to 20 if you have that may in one time. I have seen them in person and find it to be such a cool little tool!

Ok I do have like a ton in my 29g reef so do like 20 and then break for a few hours? a day? I get to have it from either friday to sunday or saturday to sunday depending on when I can pick it up. I mean I can always borrow it again but during the week I don't have any time.

just like anything in this hobby... take it slow and I would take it easy on a 29 gallon and zap ten every 5 or 6 hours to be safe. If you wanted to be extremely safe I would do my water change after every time you use it.

Wow really? Might not be worth it then.

What if I took out some of the rocks that I can get out without stirring up the sand and zap them out of the water? Then I could do as many as I want at a time right?

I have used one before. I would say the fish react to it. Every time i would hit the button the Fish and inverts would get agitated. it works but you need to spear the stalk of the aptasia and fill it with the gas until it releases. Really a pain in the butt if it is in rock work. I only use dit for a day and went a different route because i didnt trust it.
