Aiptasia

Fish is not the cure
Also peppers
When these guys run out of food the will start looking.
So unless you feed these things to protect what you have you just defeated the purpose and now you have to feed more which will lead to other issues.
Aiptasia is easy to solve :-) no fish and no shrimp

There is only one creature that is available that eats aiptasia and only eats aiptasia. That's berghia nudibranches!! I see so many people going through this and trying all these silly treatments that might possibly work but may also cause problems.

I tried two copperbands, they decide to eat feather dusters rather than aiptasia than starved. I had both eating prepared food prior to going into the display as well..

I've tried peppermint shrimp, that didn't seem to have any changes happen.

My next try is going to be a juvi Emperor angelfish. I have read that large angels seem to enjoy aiptasia but for obvious reasons generally not recommended. I read Emperors are "safer" with SPS corals, which is what I have so I'm going for it.

How do the Apstasia seeds get contained in the unit and base when it's being eaten by a invert of some kind? Wouldn't the act of tearing it to eat and pulling it from the root actually spread massive amounts of future apstasia in the tank? I feel like I'm missing a part of the equation.

Aiptasia is easy to solve :) no fish and no shrimp

I've had my Chelmon marginalis (a type of copperband butterfly) for a few years now and I have no problems with him after he removed a severe aiptasia outbreak. :)

I would be reluctant to boil the rock - it probably has more stuff on there than you know, some of which is unseen/unseeable... Creatures are cool, so I would try peppermint shrimp or berghia first, it's a good way to learn about another side of the hobby. I never thought I could "grow" berghia - until I did it....

I had berghia they eat all the pest in nine months then died. And guess what the aptsia came back.
They are like herpies you never truly get rid of it

Yes they always come back , is just a sign of a healthy tank. In the ocean obviously the predators that eat them ( peppermint shrimp, butterfly fish, berghia) keep them in check.

I was doing some real deep snooping tonight and sure enough I found 4 in my display and 2 in my sump in the chaeto that I could see. I was livid. I know at this point its too late. I have them. I have tried being very diligent with trying to keep my system pest free aaaand this. Trying to think of what my plan of attack will be....

Get a bunch of peppermint shrimp and starve your tank for a few days. This will work. You can thank me later lol.

This is the gospel. I have tried all attempts including expensive nudibranchs. I put 50 in my 180 gallon tank. And within two weeks I can not find a single aiptasia. And they are good scavengers to boot.

Filefish worked well for me but has started nipping at corals so it's just a case of catching the little bugger now
