I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, had one already but it was on a corner piece of easily removed rock, removed the rock, and chipped off a large chunk that housed the offender....now I have one in a location thats a no go, suggestions? I dont have any Kalk ATM, but it is cheap enough, however it doesnt always work in my experience, its also in a place where even with a needle I doubt I'll get its foot.....suggesttions? So far its only one (that I know of), medium/small...no local bherg farmers around are there?

joes juice got rid of the big ones in my reef and a peppermint shrimp got rid of the rest.... this always works for me!!

I'm trying a natural apprach right now, on a piece of LR I have one of the those stony coral hitch hikers with the long white tipped stingers, managed to chip it of intact and laid it face down over the offender and hope it can take it out, if not I'll try something else. If I had the room I wouldnt mind trying to farm some bhergs, it doesnt look that difficult, kinda surprised nobody local is doing it.

Doesnt look to be a winner...

EDIT....dunno if it ran it off deeper into the rock or killed it...but its gone for now as far as I can tell, and the tentecles on the stoney are blue instead of clear

Thats what I'm thinking, anybody local have any true peps at decent prices?

They usually run $10 a pop most everywhere. Might ask Triton's Garden since a bunch of us are going on Saturday. It's a long car ride, but I'm sure you'd be welcome to carpool if you wanted. See other thread....

I saw that and would love to go, right now just getting to and back from 5'th day is pushing things a bit, plus my Doc, without even seeing me the last two months has just decided to cut my meds down about a third, when he(should) know(s) things are getting worse....gotta love docs that do multiple highly invasive procedures in very risky areas and leave the paitent out of the eqation when decieding what they "need"...

I got 35lbs of free rock from a friend that was infested with these guys. I bought some pickling powder, basically lime, mixed a high concentration, and went to town with a syringe for about a week. Seemed to kill them off, as I haven't seen any in about 2 weeks now. Course tank is cycling now, so they may just be hiding, and come back. So trying to proactively be ready for when they do.

Question on "peppermint" shrimp. I keep hearing people warn about making sure its a real peppermint, and not the other kind. Any guidance on what to look for, which store around here knows their stuff enough to sell me a legit one, ect?

I read quite a few threads saying the shrimp may not eat it some times, I'm hoping out of the group, at least a couple will. Any thoughts on this?

Also, 35lbs of rock were infested, but have 135lbs in my 75g. How many shrimp should I plan on having to buy?

i used the aptasia x....worked well for me!! it was like $15 at the lfs.

I've heard of that stuff, but thank you for mentioning it. Pickling powder is basically Calcium Hydroxide, which I believe is a primary ingredient in the mainstream Aptasia killing solutions. When it dissolves in an aquarium its harmless, but at high concentrations it will burn the Aptasia, or anything else it touches so be carefull with it. I used it with the powerheads off and let it sit for a while before turning everything back on.

There is a local that has some bergias for sale if anyone local is wanting to purchase them. PM me and I will get you in contact with him.
