So still new to this saltwater game, I'm currently dealing with a daitom bloom and as i was cleaning the front glass i noticed something that i think is Aiptasia. This tank was setup with bleach and acid washed rock, new Carbisea sand, have 2 small zoa frags that i dipped in bayer and set in quarantine tank for a week, then added to main tank over 6 weeks ago. Hadn't noticed anything The only other thing added was some chaeto I got from reefcleaners around 3 weeks ago. I was trying hard to avoid hitch hikers but guess they may have been on the chaeto. So now what, do i try to remove manually? Have read about injecting with hot water, lemon juice, super glue? Looking for suggestions. I see 2 in the tank one is on the same, Was thinking about trying to do a water change and suck it up with the gravel vac, but not sure best way for one on rock

Yup, definitely looks like aiptasia. I'd try adding a peppermint shrimp [or a few depending on tank size] and see if they take care of them for you. Best to try and go the natural route first. If that doesn't work, AiptasiaX works well.

Don't attempt to manually remove it. You will likely break it into pieces and they will form into even more aiptasia.

I personally don’t take chances. If at all possible, I’d remove that rock from the tank and let it dry out. As disheartening as it can be, especially when you’ve nailed your aquascape, it’s the only sure fire way I have kept them out of my system.

Make a thick mixture of kalkwasser (kalk+2) and water, inject the mixture in there mouth. Use small amounts at a time until you see aiptasia complete melt away. I do it every few months to keep them at bay.
