Your probably never gonna get rid of every single one, but some in the tank is not that big of a deal imo. The nudis seem to work really well but if you have a wrasse or another fish like it, it will eat them all before they can make any kind of dent in the Aiptasia. Aiptasia eating file fish will eat them up but now your adding a fish, potentially causing some quarrels with the new fish. If you get the correct peppermint shrimpd they will also eat the Aiptasia but like nudis any fish that can eat them will. I dont have either of those options so every month or so I dose them with Aiptasia x which works really well for me and keeps them in check. I would definitely not pull any live rocks with Aiptasia on them and nuke the rocks just to try and eradicate the Aiptasia as it will kill all the good things in/on the rocks which would probably cause problems in your system. Good luck and don't sweat Aiptasia's in your tank.

I believe most fish will leave them alone because of their diet. You can tell a hungry Berghia by how white they are. Ones that have eaten will take on the color of the Aiptasia they just dined on storing it in their cerata. Doing so might make them too "spicy" for most fish to handle.

Well I was going off personal experience from a friend's tank who added nudis and he watched over the course of a couple weeks or so 2 of his wrasses and a couple damsels eating the nudis while lights were on.

Not saying I don't believe that happened, just that my experience was different. I even paused after I put them in the frag tank with kind of an oh sh-- moment when I realized that the six line might make quick work of them. He inspected and moved on while I cringed and contacted my local dry cleaner to drop off my underwear. I also have put them in my main display which has damsels in it with identical results. Peppermint shrimp and the like will make quick work of them I'd imagine, but none of my fish have given them a second glance.

what I described is exactly what happens from personal first hand experience with many predators in a 180. Such as a filefish, copperband, wrasse, peppermint shrimp, trigger, dragonette.

best to give advice that is from true experience not hearsay.

My copper band butterfly ate all mine within 3 days of putting him the display tank. Now I grow aiptasia in the frag tank. If I place a rock or shell or frag rack with aiptasia on it, he eats it within seconds of being place in the DIsplay Tank. Maybe you could borrow a CBB.

The nudibranch will eat the entire aiptasia. They'll wander off when they get full and mate and lay eggs under a rock somewhere and come hunting for more when they get hungry. I keep aiptasia in their own tank and it got contaminated with berghia eggs somehow. 3 nudibranch decimated the aiptasia supply in 3 days before I noticed it was happening. The nudibranch will continue living as long as they have ample food and decent water quality. I would start with 4-5 adults in your tank. Turn off the pumps and gently put them NEAR the aiptasia using a turkey baster or large pipette. Do not put them ON the aiptasia.

Would you post pictures/detais of your aiptasia and berghias set ups please! I am looking into doing the same.

Berghia are in a 5g tank on their own. 10g has a small HOB filter. 5g has nothing but an airline that releases 1 bubble per second maybe. I feed the Berghia by taking an Aiptasia from their tank and dropping it in the Berghia tank. Both tanks are covered to reduce evaporation and I top them off manually.

I am currently battling a large aiptasia outbreak. I have 4 peppermint shrimp and also have been using aiptasia x and neither seem to be helping. I was thinking about taking the rock out 1 by 1 and boiling and replacing into the tank but unsure how everything would be affected also heard that superglue and burning them is effective. Any help would be appreciated.

Gel superglue is great. Aiptasia X is terrible imo

78 for both tanks. Aiptasia have a cheap reef light from Amazon. The Berghia don't require light at all... they only get ambient light from the room.
