New to the hoppy. Googled looks to be Aiptasia. What are your thoughts and best course of action. Just got the frag yesterday.

I think that's aiptasia. Use aiptasia x but make sure u follow instructions and rinse the coral in clean saltwater so that it doesn't kill ur corals

You can apply aiptasia x in tank but it doesnt work that well and has a chance of making it reproduce.
Remove and scrape if its the only one....

It looks very close to the base of the coral where it attaches to the plug, i would remove the frag from the plug and use bone cutters, wire cutter, or even just a cuticle cutter to removed a small section off the coral skeleton where the aiptasia is.
You dont want to scrape aiptasia ever as that can lead to pieces flying everywhere and making more of itself. Kalkwasser over it and then superglue are also another safer way to eliminate the aiptasia without it spreading.
Agree about aiptasia x and lemon juice as well that stuff just makes more aiptasia

Should i have said scoop?

If its scraped off outside the tank and then rinsed with tank water before placing back into the system, there wont be any danger of the aptasia reproducing.

I didnt tell him to smoosh it into a million pieces lol.

Scrape it like you would scrape zoas off a flat surface...no left overs :)

Lol, sorry just didnt want to cause confusion for the op, yea when we "scrape" zoas its more like taking the top layer of the frag with it, same thing would work here.
Just didnt want them to put a knife in the tank though and scrape away thinking it would work

Once again total Noob. What is this next to the aiptasia. Looks like a mouth maybe?

looks like a vermetid snail, you can either glue the top hole and it will die in the tube or crush the entire thing with a metal object but make sure it is completely crushed and dead, they spread and are a pest as well, did you order this online or get it at a LFS?

Surgery complete.
Aiptasia and snail removed. Plug removed. Removed part of the skeleton where aiptasia was. Cleaned up the skeleton the best I could. Rinsed with tank water and then swished around in a different cup of tank water. It opened back up and looks good.

Cleaned up the plugs on the other two frags just in case.

I did dip the coral in Coral RX yesterday when I got them. But in that whole sequence it was hard to see the aiptasia.

Glad I noticed and asked.

I really do appreciate all the help. Thank you for the advice!
