My clove polyp has been close up for a couple of days....not sure why...but I noticed today what I think is a very small aiptasia in the middle of the frag. If I can get the clove frag off the rock, do you think I could divide it and remove the area that the aiptasis is located, and then replace the remainder back on the rock?

Just draw up some thick kalkwasser with a syringe and an 18 gauge needle and inject into the aptasia.
Done

Got any pictures?

Pics under white lighting will be helpful in verifying what you have.

Sure looks like one of those jerks.
tough to pull the cloves off likely destroy more than you get off.

Id zap that ******
The rock it's on is small, and isolated on the sand bed. If I pull the whole rock out could I just pull that bugger off with some forceps? It shouldn't spread if I can do it out of the water, right? My tank is virgin right now, and REALLY don't want to start an aiptasia problem already. lol.

can it be manually removed? What if I remove the rock from the tank and then pluck it off?
Probably easier and then you could put crazy glue on it with least amount of damage to the cloves

Well, I pulled the rock out of the tank. Of course the aiptasia withdrew, and could not be seen. I compared the rock to the photos I took earlier, and tried to scrape off the area that the little bugger was in as best I could, and rinsed the rock in the sink (with tank water). I then replaced the rock in my tank. It has a few polyps extending already, but I will have to wait a while to see if I did more harm that good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just buy some Mrs wages pickling lime from the grocery store or online whatever is easiest. It's cheap and if you don't intend to run kalk you'll have enough to make paste and kill a gazillion aptasia. I also use it to kill mushrooms that stray to parts of the tank where they are not welcome. If you were close buy I'd give you a bag. I buy in volume :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I will look into that!

I can already see that I did not get the aiptasia off the rock :(
tomorrow, I will pull the rock again, and just epoxy over that spot.
