I know I am still a noob, but have been here for a minute. I've had more than my share of aiptasia in different forms. The standard browns and a couple with more of a striped tentacle. I have this one set of tentacles I've been watching that, at first, I thought to be an appy.

After trying to hit with aiptasiax and also with a laser, I'm beginning to question my first assessment. Instead of coming out of a single hole as the typical "flower" type structure, this guy seems to have a hard center. I determined this after tapping with apx needle. I have finally been able to get a pic that might help getting a more definitive ID.

Again, thanx ahead of time for any help suggestions or opinions on this.

Looks like it could be a Hidden Cup coral, squirt some water at the unknown and see if there is a skeletal structure. Did you use live rock?

Squirted water and it almost looks like a peach pit looking nub. (Putting my southern on display here.[emoji16] ) Yes, I used live rock from different sources which is how I got blessed with the aiptasia experience/lessons.

Sounds like an LPS known as a Hidden Cup Coral, one of the nice hitchhikeres. Google "images of Hidden Cup Coral" to compare.
