AiptasiaVorus

I just rescued a white spotted copperband butterfly and dumped it in my aptasia reef. The fish is making fast work of the infestation and I am going to catch him and move him into another pest anemone plantation to get that tank ready for coral again.
It was my first copperband and it cleaned out the little pest crazy quick!

I am sure you are a proud CBB papa :)

I just put my CBB from qt into my display and so far he hasn’t touched any of my aiptasia. Did yours immediately start eating them or did it take some time?

CBB was trained in QT to eat both mysis and aiptasia. I am also observing it to ensure it is not a coral eater…it is still in QT tank for right now. Over the weekend, it will be moved to DT in a fish box for 1 week before going into tank. It’s a process but will ensure it gets the best chance.

IME if you can house one and keep it alive, a cbb is the most sure fired aiptasia eater out there besides berghia nudis. Mine wiped out all of my aiptasia, all my pineapple sponges and all my upside down jellyfish polyps. They truly enjoy feasting on critters. They never stop inspecting every crevice of rock.

I kept mine in qt for around 4 months and got it eating aiptasia in there, but since moving it over to the display it hasn’t touched them as far as I can tell.
