Air in return line when valve off "T" is opened ONLY

I have an external pump setup using Vinyl tubing. On the output of the pump I have a "T" fitting. The side (bottom of "T") has a Ball valve on it. When I open it Air is introduced to tank. ( NOT Valve.) Replaced it. Also note I have another valve at the end of this line too. I can shut this off and open the 1st valve and no air is introduced. Water flow out this "T" fitting. Now the Pump is 25 years old. I did make sure that the screws holding the impeller assy. were tight.

I am not sure what you are trying to do here. I see a barb with airline hose on it. What exactly is that about? The intake pipe on the pump looks small.

disregard airline-not the issue.( intake side is 3/4", the same as the pump) Look at The valve with the red handle. When open, air gets in line that goes into tank. When that valve is closed NO air gets in line to tank. Replaced valve(old one was leaking water) and all was ok until I tried to close new valve. It was real hard to turn handle. Now when I reopened it this air problem started, Replaced this valve with a better one. Problem still exists. That line goes to my reactors only. This set up has worked well for 20+ years.
 
Sure it isn’t back siphoning from above? What happens when you close the blue valve?

If I close that valve, no water goes to tank. Their is NO back siphon as water is flowing out that line. (Red valve closed, no air in return line)

What types of reactors do you have? Any pictures of the entire setup?
 
There is some salt creep on the pump outlet. Is it possible that there is a small leak that your plumbing work opened up enough to create a Venturi effect? I found a leak once by closing off my manifold. I'd had micro bubbles entering my tank and couldn't figure out the source. When I closed the manifold off, I began to see salt creep at a fitting. I redid the fitting and the bubbles are gone.

I went and cleaned salt creep off on the pumps outlet fitting and tightened it. Turned valve with red handle to On position, No more Bubbles so far.;Woot;Woot;Woot You were correct, I just couldn't see it coming from that location. Must of been the extra flow from opening valve, with red handle was enough to create a venture effect. Thanks @Breadman03 :D:D:D:D
