So I got this reef glass skimmer and an air pump to go with it. I connected it up and am getting bubbles and pulling skim, great. I then tried to add some soda lime to this via the "intake" of the air pump. It would seem that both nozzles on the air pump, pump air out? Both ends will blow bubbles. How does this work? I thought one end would suck air in and the other blow it out. How are both ends blowing air out? I don't see any possible opening to suck air in.

You probably have a air pump with two outlet. Intake - look for a rather large plastic cover on the pump. I do not know your pump but most here in Europe (of the smaller ones) has its intake (small) below a larger filter covered with a plastic cap.

Sincerely Lasse

Turns out that it IS a two output device. I still don't see anywhere that air can make its way in though. I'll have to open it up and see what's going on.

You could put a T in one of the air lines.
Hose from soda lime to T'd air line. The vacuum created by the flowing air, should pull the soda lime along with it.
