Air pump longevity if you remove the inlet filter

If you remove the little filter pad on the air inlet of an air pump, will the pump last as long?

Prob not. dust is bad. But when the pad is dirty it works harder so makes it burn out quicker too. If you can keep dust out itll last longer. It works better without the pad though. jsut need to put it in a box with stuffing or floss to keep the dust off. Yarn would work too. Packing peanuts.

Might be a good experiment to see which lasts longer. After all, the only purpose of the filter is to make the pump last longer.
