Air tight dosing container?

Hi. So i have to go for a vacation for few weeks and had to use my dosing pump. I’m thinking of DIY dosing container and 1 dumb question comes to my mind. Is dosing container suppose to be air tight? Thank u. Please help this noob understand bcoz anything related to science, my brain will become an intel pentium

If the dosing container is airtight the pump will create a vacuum as it draws out its contents to dose. Thus, not pulling the correct amount to dose the tank.

I just leave the caps on my containers a bit loose instead of adding a hole.
