The poor criminals who had to serve time at Alcatraz were forced to eat LOBSTER!!! every day!!! Granted it was cheap, available, in abundance and not the delicacy that it is today.

1. Do you feed your fish a large variety of foods or are you feeding just shrimp or just pellets in the spirit of those cruel jail authorities?

Variety that I make myself. I take clams, shrimp, oysters, scallops and salmon, put into a blender and then freeze in chunks. Take out and defrost as needed. Fish love it, highly nutritious and very economical. My wife says my fish eat better than us. She’s not wrong.

Nice! We’ve had that same discussion. Lol

I feed a variety of frozen foods. Try to mix it up a bit. Every day they get Reef Nutrition TDO Chroma BOOST pellets. Everyone in the tanks loves their pellets. I feed the frozen first. The way I see it, "If ya dun't eat yer meat, Ya can't have any pellets! How can ya have any pellets, if ya dun't eat yer meat!?!" Pink Floyd (revised) :)

Mainly clams ,and some oysters, scallops and occasionally mussels, even rarer is frozen food x5 variety but dont feed so often, then on a very very rare occasion some pellets,
Aw and 2 x a week algae sheets clipped to glass and about once a week algae pellets from freshwater tank, mainly crabs, nass snails eat these.
One day I will make my own mix but been saying that half a year or more now lol

I feed the following:
• LRS Reef Frenzy
• Live cultured white worms
• Mysis Shrimp
• Live minced clams
• Spectrum pellets
• Hikari Seaweed extreme pellets
• Easy Masstick
• Nori

My fish eat well and tons of variety!!

Added a poll and hope you don't mind! Great thread!

I make up my own frozen mix.

Start with a base of fresh raw oysters with liquor, bay or gulf scallops, whole silver sides partially thawed diced and pulsed through the food processor till it's a slurry, Then mix in mysis shrimp, chopped krill, marine cuisine cubes, and the pièce de résistance blood and black worms. This is then poured into silicone mini ice cubes and frozen for later use.

The fish go absolutely nuts for it so needless to say I have some of the fattest happiest fish out there.

I feed oyster feast, phytofeast, pe mysis, calanus, spirulina loaded brine shrimp, Benereef, mysis pellets, ocean nutrition Prime flake and occasionally finely chopped thawed shrimp. I like a variety and I'm presuming my tank does also.

They give them beer and wine too
Lobster?
I feed a Wide variety of foods

This is just SOME of what I feed.

My reef and FOWLR fish get New Life Spectrum pellets every morning and nori in the late afternoons. The FOWLR fish also get 4 or 5 different kinds of frozen food, rotated through each day. Reef fish, not so much, because they have a lot more living algae and pods to pick at.

I'm a big believer in providing food variety and frozen is a must, as I'll never just feed pellets. Each evening, I feed LRS Reef Frenzy, LRS Herbivore Frenzy & sometimes I add Spirulina Mysis. Twice earlier each day, I feed a black-worm based pellet via auto-feeder. Daily I have nori available for grazing. I feed live black worms 3 times a week and I hatch baby brine shrimp weekly and feed them to the tank daily as they hatch. I've just started broadcast feeding the tank Benepets, which is supposed to feed the fish along with the corals, but I have yet to see my fish consume it directly. All of my fish are nice and chunky with my royal gramma actually getting quite hefty.

Nice!!! That actually made me start thinking….What’s for lunch. Lol

Geez, after reading what y'all do, I'm afraid to post in case the ASPCA is watching.

Frozen Mysis, Frozen Brine, soaked flake and pellets a couple times a week. additional Nori for my fat foxface

Daily feedings use a dry mix of foods:
  • Dehydrated mysis
  • @AVAST Marine Reef Jerky
  • Algae pellets
  • TDO ChromaBoost
I also throw in some algae wafers for the Whitetail Bristletooth that had a rocky start when added to the tank a few months ago.

Then, on Sundays, targeted feeding to LPS and nems of one of the following:
  • Chopped shrimp soaked in aminos
  • Aquaforest Mysis
I've cut back significantly on daily feeding timings due to a long sustained increase in phosphates that I'm finally slowly bringing down. This was due to me mixing in some ReefRoids into the daily feed mix by accident and without noticing until it was too late. My cheapo bandaid UV also is not working properly, and so algae (on glass and GHA) has taken hold, along with some other undesirables.
