TDO pellets 2x/week, LRS reef frenzy 3x/week, phyto (algaebarn or reef nutrition) 2x/week, hikari algae wafers 2x/week. once in a blue moon: reefroids/reef chili/benepets. probably once a month or so.

LRS Reef and Herbivore Frenzy in the evenings
NLS and Hikari pellets in the a.m. soaked in Selcon
Reef Nutrition Oyster and Mysis Feast mixed with LRS couple times a week
Nori on a clip 2-3 times a week
Live black worms once a month or so

I feed mine LRS reef frenzy or fish frenzy along with Rod’s original and PE mysis. Sometimes some mega angel mixed in too. Just combine it in a small container and feed both tanks the same mix. They also get nori pretty much daily. The tangs and angels would revolt without the nori.

Daily feedings use a dry mix of foods:
  • Dehydrated mysis
  • @AVAST Marine Reef Jerky
  • Algae pellets
  • TDO ChromaBoost
I also throw in some algae wafers for the Whitetail Bristletooth that had a rocky start when added to the tank a few months ago.

Then, on Sundays, targeted feeding to LPS and nems of one of the following:
  • Chopped shrimp soaked in aminos
  • Aquaforest Mysis
I've cut back significantly on daily feeding timings due to a long sustained increase in phosphates that I'm finally slowly bringing down. This was due to me mixing in some ReefRoids into the daily feed mix by accident and without noticing until it was too late. My cheapo bandaid UV also is not working properly, and so algae (on glass and GHA) has taken hold, along with some other undesirables.
I’ve cut back a bit as well. “Finding the Balance “

Yes I believe what I feed my tank is a veriety, 3 types of pellets, freeze dried shrimp, flake food and frozen Mysis shrimp. Rotating each day or two.

I have a wide variety of fish ranging from a couple harem of Anthias, a few Tangs, to a Red Sea Regal...along with a Orchid Dottybacks, clowns, Cardinals, etc. They get fed once an hour throughout the entire day, with the food being distributed via a Plank automatic feeder into a gyre current - so it spreads throughout the reef. Of course, some always try to cut in line...

The variety in the mix:
Hikari Carnivore Medium Sinking Pellet
Hikari Marine S pellets (small pellets)
Hikari Seaweed Extreme (medium-small pellets)
HIkari Marine A pellets
Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 Marine, Small (carnivore and omnivore)
Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 Marine, Small (herbivore and omnivore)
San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried Brine Shimp (basically powdered)
San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried Plankton (crushed in to pieces)
San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried Krill (crushed into slightly larger pieces)
San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried Mysis (left pretty much intact)
San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried Cyclops (crushed into powder)
add a bit of couple "coral mixes" in to...
Shake and stir well, then pour into the feeder. Feed enough so they wipe it all out in about minute or so after feeding time, and then spend the rest of the hour picking throughout the reef. Along with the shrimp, crabs, hermit crabs, snails, you name it.

Yes, my female Anthias are slightly, er, "Rubenesque," as they are the primary "line cutters" in the group.

Cheers,
Ray

I feed TDO Chromaboost pellets daily but I had been cutting back on this. And alternate between frozen mysis and brine shrimp soaked on selcon on a daily basis, my fishes are picky if I don't use selcon. Occasionally I'll sprinkle some prime reef flakes and throw in a few mini algae wafers about once or twice a week.

Those Anthias definitely need their calories!!! Lol

Pellets, mysis, green Hikari frozen stuff (can't remember the name), LRS reef frenzy, and phyto to feed my copepods, to feed my fish.

So. Yeah, I feed a boatload of food. I also have a pretty good stock load, so I should lead with that.

With all the wrasses and anthias, I need to feed frequently, but I also need to do some heavy feeding to ensure my benthic fellows and larger fish get those bellies filled. So. My feeding regimen is as follows:

Refrigerated auto feeder (see build thread for details) (dosed automatically via a dosing pump into a feed line which goes into the return)
3x daily - mysis feast (reef nutrition)
3x daily- Beta Brine (reef nutrition)
3x daily- R.O.E (Reef Nutrition)
2x Daily - Arctic Pods ( Reef Nutrition)

Mix of PE Mysis and PE Mini Mysis - 1 large feeding (appx 4 cubes worth) Daily

1 sheet Red Nori and 1 sheet Green Nori Daily (everyone eats this including the fairy wrasses surprisingly)

Reef Frenzy (I interchange reef, herbivore, and coral as I feel like it) every couple of days. I like the food alot, but it's messy to feed every day and since it's sticky the more aggressive feeders just grab the chunks and run off with it.

Pellets - the tank pretty much gets a couple of tosses of pellets anytime I'm looking at it. I use PE pellets or NLS pellets (medium size).

I Aldo make my own food that I throw in a few times a week. I go to the Asian food store and buy an assortment of whole fresh seafood (shellfish, crustaceans, various small fishes, and a filet of oily fish like mackerel) these all get frozen then put through the meat grinder. I like to think that this is probably the most nutritious thing but it's also very messy and high in phosphates so I don't use it every day.

I also hatch brine shrimp and add freshly hatched brine every day.

For coral I add a blend of reef chili and oyster feast 2x a week.

I also have a plank feeder that automatically feeds reef jerky 4x per day.

All frozen foods get a selcon soak prior to feeding.

I thiiiink that's all? If I remember more I'll edit this post.

I'm a big believer in providing food variety and frozen is a must, as I'll never just feed pellets. Each evening, I feed LRS Reef Frenzy, LRS Herbivore Frenzy & sometimes I add Spirulina Mysis. Twice earlier each day, I feed a black-worm based pellet via auto-feeder. Daily I have nori available for grazing. I feed live black worms 3 times a week and I hatch baby brine shrimp weekly and feed them to the tank daily as they hatch. I've just started broadcast feeding the tank Benepets, which is supposed to feed the fish along with the corals, but I have yet to see my fish consume it directly. All of my fish are nice and chunky with my royal gramma actually getting quite hefty.
And I thought I was over feeding my fishies

Impressive, thx!!!

I feed mostly LRS which is like 9 different animals so they get a nice variety. Every 3rd day I mix it up with TDO that soaks in some vitamins. I try everyday to use some nori

The poor criminals who had to serve time at Alcatraz were forced to eat LOBSTER!!! every day!!! Granted it was cheap, available, in abundance and not the delicacy that it is today.

1. Do you feed your fish a large variety of foods or are you feeding just shrimp or just pellets in the spirit of those cruel jail authorities?

I have a mixed reef aquarium. 359 gallon. With lots of Tangs. Feed them Alamang or Krill which is readily available here at the wet markets. Also Algae, Nori, green vegetables. Corals and anemones also eat the Krill as well as the juices coming out of the Krill. During feeding I stop the return pumps but let the Vortechs run. This feeding cycle lasts for 45 mins until all the food is consumed.

Forgot to say that I live in the Philippines Tank is 350 gallon.

Man, I thought I was going a little over board until I read this thread.

In the morning I feed TDO chromaboost, VO2 krill, spectrum grow, and Hikari seaweed extreme all soaked in selcon. I also add 60 ml of phyto. In the evening I put in some nori, and coral aminios, and then some frozen food my LFS makes.

As I get a bit more variety of fish we'll add in some hatchery diet and if my CUC does too well I've got some algea pellets too.

There are 2 things that I believe contribute to a healthy reef in a serious way; 1. one is small consistent water changes and 2. is feeding your fish well, which includes giving them as much variety as possible.

I feed my fish a big variety of frozen, (both greens and protein based), pellets, flakes and freeze dried seaweeds. I have a refugium and sump for amphipod and copepod propagation. I often stock the fuge with ghost shrimp for shrimp larvae to end up in the display tank. All my fish are plump and round bellied. I think we'll fed fish are more disease resistant and I have had quite a few fish live well past the 10 year mark.
