Hi,

So I just re-scaped my appx 4 month old tank after a little mishap when moving some corals. I like the new scape a lot better but I am now getting an algae outbreak on pretty much just one rock. I turned the rock and exposed the side which was previously in the sandbed. At first there was a bunch of white fuzzy stuff and some small little white things sticking up off the rock.

I just added a new light, the Current Ic, but decided to maybe kill it for a day or two. Parameters are all good except nitrates( about 20ppm) doing water changes to bring back down.

Is this normal for newly exposed rock? Its no longer white, starting to go brown. Any advice?

It won't be white forever that's for sure.
You may have stirred up some stuff too. Poo and old food

Maybe the change of lights? Or it could just be that the tank is still new and going through the uglies
