Algae, Algae, Algae!

Have you checked your water source you can do water changes till you're blue in the face but if your ro/di is not measuring zero then you'll be adding to the problem and it will compound over time just a thought

i've had great luck eradicating some algae that nothing would eat with a combination of reefflux and vibrant. depending on what algae you have, a treatment with vibrant may be enough.

It sounds like a start of a song. We should Start making an Algae Rap. Haha. I heard these should help with your problems.

Just went thru Dr. Tim's protocol for removing hair algae....weakened it a bit but did do a fine job of melting my sunkist bounces. Sticking with hungry sea creatures

Okay that's good I would recommend a sea hare it will eat ALL hair algae but when your algae is gone it will starve so you have to pass it along to someone else with hair algae

Besides phosphate, is your tank at or near a window?
Are the white lights bright and on more than 8hrs?
I also recommend a pencil urchin plus a sea hare for the algae OR Liquid vibrant which depletes the nutrients that support algae

Get snails, specially mexican turbos, and also put in 2-3 good size sea hare in there should help.

Nope, nowhere near a window. Red and green lights turned down significantly along with cutting back of hours

Does your city water treat with chlorine or chloramines before it gets to your ro/di chloramines can get through your filter if you don't have the right di resin sorry if it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse

Good point....not sure. There are alot of successful tanks here on Long Island though. Will check it out. Thanks!

if you have time check this video don't know how to link worked not to computer savvy I was just thinking if you remove the algae I'm still not getting to the root of the problem let me know if you can't open

Can the sea hare be feed algae pellets or something else?
Have 2 sea hares going and about 7 mexican turbo snails with a dozen ceriths. Brought phosphates to zero using Phos Rx and removing some by hand. Finally a dent is being made.

Not sure about the pellets but I know that you eat a lot of hair algae like little lawn mowers but maybe you could bring it back to the local fish store for store credit when you're done
