Im curious why algae grows profusly in a waterfall ats. But not in the tank? Something to do with Co2? Or perhaps its the fast moving water? I have red leds in the ats, my kessil led is a mix of red/white/blue but it doesnt grow much in the tank.

Thoughts?

according to some the reds (with blues) are better for algae growth then red/white/blue.

or perhaps the lights are more concentrated in the ats.

my guess anyway.

Yeah its a 1w led strip light. Its got iirc 8 red and 1 blue per strip. The strip is 4" away from the screen and passes through glass so its dimmed.

Every week 1/2" of thick hair algae grows on a surface thats 12"x 15". Thats Every week! Its probably a half a cup of algae. And this is a 25 gallon. Po4 and no3 are zero on hanna and api no3. 10 fish in there.

Its very mind boggling how much algae grows. Thank god its not in the tank.
