Algae and cycle?

hi guys and gals my lvl yesterday was ammonia.25 nitrite 0 nitrate 10 today are ammonia.25 nitrite 0 nitrate .5 but I have a bright green hair like algae growing fast on my live rock it’s not brown it’s green. Lfs suggested turning light off for 2 or 3 days to kill it off. There are no fish or clean up crew in tank would like to know what y’all think? Tank cycling with 50 lb wet live rock 25 lb dry rock an is a 75 gallon tank 14 days into cycle.

If you are reading nitrate then your api test is most likely wrong on the ammonia, it's probably 0. Since you started off with 50lbs of live rock your cycle is most likely complete and you're already experiencing the awkward ugly stages of your tank's journey into adulthood. You can kill it off with a blackout but it'll come back when you turn the lights back on. Here are a couple articles that may help you out :

Wait it out... it will get better over time. When ammonia goes away, you can get some snails and hermits to clean it up. I used 800mg of fluconazole to get rid of my algae a month after tank was set up. The pills got rid of all the algae and don’t harm any corals. I also got a LMB but he died of starvation 8 months later
