I keep reading about how chaeto likes (needs?) to be tumbled. I have a sump I built myself with three compartments, so the flow through them is pretty directional. Will algae get torn up by high unidirectional flow, and do I need, say, red ogo to be tumbling or is it just a chaeto thing

thanks!

as per BRS video cheato does not have to tumble it grows by it self mine doesn`t tumble stays in the corner where my overflow and grows have to harvest every month

Cool I am going to give it a shot. My sump is generally the same design as that Ruby Red, just held together with my own blood, sweat and tears and lots of epoxy

I have had some bad experiences with a small tank and chaeto melting and nitrate bombing it - I think because I had a super established Xenia colony in it, so I am trying to be careful. This 100g tank should be producing plenty of nutrients to go around
