Algae Attack!!!

As everyone indicates here, there’s no need to make any radical changes. Just small adjustments. Dropping the photoperiod down to 6 hours and slowly ramping it up to around 8-9 hours over the next few months is a good idea. Your other options are basic maintenance like cleaning out filter media as I recommended and of course small water changes (no more than 15% tank volume). If you chose to, you could do all three of these today if you’d like and it wouldn’t stress your tank too much.

Ok my plan is this. Get home, clean glass, and do a water change. During the water change maybe scrub the rocks with hydrogen peroxide then rinse in rodi. Also changing out the filter floss frequently. Lastly, lower my photoperiod to 8 hours. Does this sound good?

Yeah for reference how long did all your ugly stages last in your tank? Mines very new only a month and a half old and I know I’m still far away but just wondering.

off and on for about a year. I would put freshwater black mollies in the tank. They are algae eating beasts and easy to catch when you tier of them.

I wouldn’t sweat it, clean the glass and do a water change when you get home and maybe add a few more snails when you get a chance.
agreed 1) its a new tank 2) they make algae scrapper magnets specifically for scraping algae off glass

Do not scrub your rock with H03 and rinse with RO.. not needed for your issues and will harm your beneficial bacteria and set your tanks maturity back considerably. Save the H03 scrubbing for extreme long term algae issues ;)

Your bacteria will be fine. Just do the front 2 rocks. the bacteria will migrate to you cleaned rocks. use very little peroxide just the clumps. Don’t go pouring it on the rock.
