Tank is about 2 months and 5 days old. My DIY protein skimmer seems to be doing the job (no air pump/stone used) but i believe that i may need to invest in a uv scrubber if my water don't clear soon. Thoughts?

I’ll just ask this before anyone else does before making an assessment: what are your parameters?

.25 phosphates
15 nitrate
9 dkh
34ish ppt
Calcium 520+ for some reason

I believe i have a dead emerald crab somewhere

Yes- bloom- I notice a window nearby. Does the sunlight at any given part of the day hit the tank? This could very well be your cause and issue

usually when you have algae, you have low/no phosphates because the algae use it. That’s something to look into.

No, it's usually covered. But this my first led light system. Still trying to tweak the sunrise, sunset settings. Shortend the light cycle by 2 hrs this morning.

I’d highly recommend a RODI system. Filters will help take out a lot of unwanted stuff but they leave lots of minerals and other things that you don’t want. Good luck!

That is defiantly at the top of the list of future purchases, probably in the next month or two. Figured something was better than nothing till i figure which RODI system to get (2nd salt tank, never had RODI for the first). And thanks.

My LFS uses regular tap to make their saltwater. I’m sure you can get away with it to a degree.
