Need some ID help with the brown coating/growth on my LR. Pics below are with whites only. Tank is 8 months old. It started with only being on my ceramic frag racks. It has now moved to LR,sand, and exposed portion of frag plugs/tiles. It has no bubbles nor is it stringy. It does not blow off with a turkey baster. I had to scrub it off with a brush which made it come off in a powder form. Not diatoms or Dino's. Parameters are kept consistent
nitrates 10ppm,phosphate 0.04,alk 9dkh,Cal 430,mag 1360. It seems to be affecting my acans the most. Once it gets on the frag tile, they started to recede. I've been fighting it for 3-4 weeks so far. I've tried peroxide, blackout and most recently Brightwell MB Razor and Clean. The later seems to have reduced it slightly. Can find anything similar online with a ID or treatment. Tia

Green cyano... pain in the cheeks! I just finished getting rid of it. My advice is to lower your nutrients in a controlled manner and lots of manual removal. Also make sure your sand gets syphoned well and you get rid of all detritus pockets.

I've had green and red cyano before, this is different. Nutrients are pretty good and stable. I vacuum 1/3 of my sand weekly with water change. With cyano, you can pull it up in mats. This needs to be scrubbed off and turns powdery
