I originally put up a thread a few weeks back thinking I had diatoms but now I’m not so sure. No amount of cleaning is curing it. As soon as the glass is cleaned, it gets dirty again but rocks are clean and sand is only dirty in low flow areas.
In the morning the tank is clean so it’s a photosynthetic type of algae.
Can anyone help.

When I sponge clean the glass, it is like a slimy texture and looks like this in my rinse bucket:

GFO added 5 days ago to try and remove silicates.

Thanks both. Best method of eradication? I guess less food, wetter skim?

If you want to get rid of it feed off of silica in the water to get rid of it take the silica out of the water by water changes and also get a poly fiber filter those work well too

It almost looks like a phytoplankton bloom.

Thanks, I’ll do some reasearch into it as that’s a new suggestion I’ve not had before.

Have you dosed any previous to this? One way to find out would be to see what you put in the jar settles.

Nope not dosed any.
It doesn’t look as green in real life, more brown which was why I thought diatoms.
I‘ll do a settle test.
