In the past month the hair algae and another thicker but similar to hair algae in pretty much all other regards has gotten out of control in my tank. All my parameters have remained steady, however I haven’t tested my phosphorus. My lights are the ViparSpectra 180w raised 10 inches above water level on a low intensity, I haven’t changed the height or intensity and this algae hasn’t been a problem until this past month. I did add a Dart Frog Vivarium in the room at the end of August which has a light however it is about 20 feet from the Reef tank. I did have the thought that my RODI unit could need some upgrading since it is about 6 years old. Any thoughts?

No2- 0ppm
No3- 0ppm
Ammonia- 0ppm
Salinity- 35ppt

Evening,

Few thoughts. A few pics of what we are dealing with may help. Also, your Rodi is old, have the filters never been changed, and if not how much water a month you think you’ve used thru it in 6 years.

How long has the tank been up and what we have for CuC and fish? Give a bit of info on the tank. It is phosphate Po4 we need to check, but I would expect it to read close to zero since the algae is using it up.

We can figure it out but need the puzzle pieces first.

^^+1^^ This can be fixed. Just don't do too much too soon. Listen to @Mastiffsrule. Another helpful fact might be your water change schedule.
