So I started my tank about a week and a half ago.

I used aqua vitro seed to get it started and transferred my coral and fish into the tank.

Had my water tested Friday.

No ammonia or nitrite, very low nitrate.

All livestock in the tank is doing well. Coral looks happy, fish all happy especially with all the extra room for activities.

When I picked up the seed, the guy at the LFS said I'd get an algae bloom at the end of the cycle. I'm in the thick of it.

Now I don't mind, I get there a process.

However, is there a way to speed up the bloom? I'm having some visitors this weekend and it'd be cool if I could have the tank looking nice.

If not, no biggie, but worth an ask.

Vacuum sand, scrub rocks and clean the glass a few hours before guest arrive.
Turn lights down so the algae wont grow as fast while the guests are there.
Or explain the year or two it takes to establish a reef tank and how the bio system needs time to establish itself.

I had a wedding at my house this past weekend and I'm in the throws of a major outbreak. I thought it was cyano... but two rounds of chemiclean only have it laughing at me. Now, I'm thinking dinos???

Either way, I pulled all my live rock the night before the wedding and scubbed it off in the sink. I sucked what I could and kicked up a ton into the water column to get picked up by the socks. I put fresh socks in the morning of the wedding, cleaned the glass and used a toothbrush to sweep the crud off the corals. We dimmed the lights to a pretty blue and made it through the wedding without anyone commenting on the red stringy crap in the tank. Not a perfect solution but it lulled me in to a false sense of accomplishment for one night at least.

Now, I am struggling to find a solution. I know my nitrates are super high, despite dosing NosPhox daily for a month. My Phosphates are zero. Ammonia Zero Nitrites Zero This snot is everywhere. OVER IT!!
To the OP... wish there was a way to jump time and make it go away but this is one of those things that keeps coming up again and again... hang in there!!

I'm not embarrassed about it. It's a process and I'm ok with it. Figured I'd check and see if there's any quick fixes is all
