Algae bloom

Are there different colors of algae blooms? Just about over night my tank has gone cloudy. I Have only 5 hermit crabs in the tank.tank has been clear up until then.Tank is now a milky white color. Only thing I did do was change to a different kind of filter floss.i have a fluval evo 13.5 . I did a 2 gallon water change and seems to be better.

Milky color would usually mean bacterial, not algae bloom.
Is it possible something died in your tank?

I have had this happen a couple times in a 20 gallon coral qt tank. I picked up a cheap uv light off Amazon and that did the trick, you can get a little one for under 20 bucks.

Could be something died or over feeding ,it's do to decaying proteins, depending on age of tank perhaps in the filter even

Not feeding at moment .just hermits. Tank is only 6 weeks old so probably just a stage.never seen white algae before
