Algae (cheato) die cause phosphates to spike?

Would this be a cause for a phosphate spike?

My sump until recently had little flow, I had cyano in sump, and some of my cheato was slimy and gross ;Vomit

would this cause phosphates to spike?

I have since added a wave maker to that part of the sump and as of yesterday I remove have my cheato.
