Algae? Coral disease? No clue

This has been on my GSP for about 2 weeks now. Thought maybe in was cyano but maybe it’s something else? Hasn’t spread at all and doesn’t seem to be hurting the coral. Thoughts?

Cyano, try blowing it off with turkey baster.

Agreed. Looks like red slime algae, which is actually cyanobacteria. Is this a relatively low flow spot in the tank? Can you give us your parameters? There are several causes and solutions, but the first step is to try to vacuum or blow it off.

This worked like a charm. It was definitely cyano, I had a few spots of cyano pop up in the tank in low flow areas. I added another power head to create more flow and most disappeared on its own but this hung around I guess. Thanks for the advice

Yea it was definitely cyano. I blew it off with turkey baster as suggested by the other member. I had a few spots of cyano come up a few weeks ago, tank parameters were all stable it turned out to be low flow in the certain areas. I added another power head to increase flow and most of it disappeared but I guess this part of the tank still does not have enough. If it returns in this area I’ll have to adjust power heads.

Good to hear. Keep an eye on your NO3 and particularly your PO4.
