Hello my names Terrell, minutes old new here and new to fishing altogether as of 2 months or so into it… I’m having problems I can’t wrap my head around as I continue to get into the saltwater tank… can someone help me understand what algae is this? And why my snails might’ve stopped eating it.

The tank needs a powerhead, point it at the water surface to agitate the water and help oxygenate the water. I see your clown at the surface which indicates low oxygen, and algae consumes oxygen at night and that much algae will cause low oxygen issue's in the tank. Flow is very important in a saltwater tank.

Algae also loves low flow and stagnant area's, so a powerhead will help against that too.

Don't overfeed, feed small amounts several times a day. If you see food in the tank 30 seconds after feeding, you fed too much so feed less next time. Rotting food creates higher levels of dissolved organics in the water which feeds algae.

Clean up crew will help with small amounts but can't do anything against bad infestation, so you have to do your part to keep it in control.

If you have no corals, you can reduce or turn off the lights for a while.

Its hair algae and can be caused by lack of flow, too much light, overfeeding and high phosphate level.
I would place it in a container of tank water and pull off as much as you can by hand and scrub the rest with a firm toothbrush and some 3% hydrogen peroxide.
Return to tank, reduce white light intensity and number of hours of white lighting and add some snails such as :
Astrea
cerith
turbo grazer
trochus

A Pencil urchin

8-10 Caribbean blue leg hermits

Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet ?
What is your phosphate level?
Is tank at or near a window?
