Algae Debresia

Hi!
I don't know how to get rid of this algae (derbesia? ) when I tear it, it is like a sponge, it holds the shape of the hair. As it started to grow, my snails ate (probably low KH) I increased the triton KH is 8.3, and I am going to get animals, but I do not know what animals will eat these algae. I would like to advise, the aquarium was beautifully clean, I do regular water changes. But I can't get rid of it for four months now. Thank you for your willingness and help.

You need CUC in there; get some snails and urchins, which will help you with your algae issues.

Thank you very much. I am surprised by the availability and selection of CUC animals. But I'm from Europe from the small country Slovakia. And we don't have that many options here. But for imfotmation it's awesome. Berghia in our country, I can't find it, I need it for get rid off Aiptasia.

How are you making your saltwater? Do you use an rodi kit? Reason i ask if your getting too much alage with no nutrients going in it could be the water source.

Pluck as much as you can each water change and increase water change amount after you find out the water isn't the problem. Your not dosing anything to the tank are you?

I use RODI water, I probably have to do water changes more often, I dose TRITON and sometimes some bacteria for stability. My nitrates are low and my PO4 is 0.02. I don't have many fish yet.

CUC nor brush will stop derbesia or Bryopsis. These are one of the more challenging of algae due to need of its complete removal. Removal is best accomplished by taking the rock out of tank and placing in a container of tank water. Then you will want to pull as much as you can by hand and discard. With a dental pick or small crochet needle, pull the roots off the rock. YOU MUST GET EVERY ROOT OR IT WILL SIMPLY RETURN !!
After you are done return rock to tank and reduce white light intensity and even hours of white light and add the following cleaners which will help with control. These guys will consume bryopsis but not as fast as bryopsis can grow - They will never keep up.
Pin cushion urchin, Chiton snails, pitho crabs, and larger astrea snails

This procedure is not as bad or time consuming as it seems. Assure phosphate levels do not become elevated which helps feed this algae

Dip zoas 2 minutes in hydro peroxide 5 ratio saltwater to 1 hydor peroxide. Kills alage but be careful with mix Id use gloves if youvtake frag off.

I have used soft painter brushes on zoas in the past

Problems arise when you brush off their mucus coat

I just use a baster now

I have a filefish eating my zoas currently, algae really isn't their problem in my tank now

For EU based clean up crew you can go to Recifathome. I've found them to be very good.

How do you use the master? I have seen people put peroxide in it?
