Algae every where !!

I’ve been in the hobby 20+ years and I just Got over a huge algae problem don’t feel bad just a few tips wanted to give you that I neglected that led to my problem and my algae now is gone
Well thanks for that...I do feel kinda dumb but like I said when I got Into reefing I was given some not so good advice made some bad investments along the way(chinese box lights) just from the lack of knowledge. And now I'm trying to fix it and not end up broke and homeless lol

Like mentioned above your best best is to balance your nutrient input/output into a healthy range.

Also if you must use tap you could use a large brute trashcan and run gfo and carbon aggressively in that to strip out silicates and other impurities before that water ever reaches your tank instead of trying to deal with it once it's in there. This will give you the added benefit of not having to worry about stripping vital elements in your tank.

I feel your pain my friend
I don’t think anyone will debate this fact as your love and desire for this Hobby grows and it well so does the cost lol
And yes reduce the lights good and easy start

Thanks that's a great idea

Bio pellet reactor ? I bought a nice lifeguard and some pellets . Will that help ..once it leaves the box that is

Check it out I want to help you out this is an RO system from marine depot it’s not an RODI system
I do use rodi but I used to use this one we have ground water here and it’s pretty clean and this RO unit was able to strip the water to 0 TDS I’m sure it will be better than your tap water hands down it uses two carbon blocks one sediment filter in the 75 gallon per day RO membrane and someone on this forum may even be able to help you convert it into a DI system
The membrane and the carbon blocks and sediment filter will definitely need to be replaced and you can get the filter kit from marine depot
It will cost you the shipping that’s it you can pay it forward to someone else in the future
LMK and it’s yours
Oh yeah welcome to R2R

Really !! That's so awesome of you yes I will differently pay it forward

Pm your address and I’ll figure out the shipping on Monday and let you know the shipping cost and we can work it out via PayPal
So happy I could help
Lmk if there’s a problem sending private messages as a new member and we will figure it out

It is about $22 usps you would likely receive it Friday it’s boxed and ready to go
On the contrary though I did some research on this system It’s 149.99 marine depot Free shipping as a RODi unit
So after shipping of $22 and a $69 Ro membrane replacement $24 DI color change cartridge and a $14 carbon block and a $4 sediment filter
That’s $109 plus you will need 1/4 Ro line a tap for the water supply more $$$$
Or get the one new from Marine Depot with everything ready to go out of the box about the same price to get the one I’ll give you going . Kind of redundant lmk I’ll gladly send this one I think might be more of a headache for you,!!!
