I have one compartment of my 20g sump on my 100g tank that I am growing chaeto in. I have a chaetomax that runs at night because I’ve read that this is a good way to flatten out nighttime ph drops

how much actual algae do I have to have to make a difference? I have probably two softball’s worth of the stuff…am I just wasting electricity or would this actually move the needle?

thanks!

I used to do that and it helped reduce nightly drops somewhat. If you are not seeing the benefit, you can increase the lighting intensity to increase the carbon dioxide consumption rate.

I would test pH with and without the light running and go from there.
