Algae growing in calcium reactor

My geo calcium reactor has been running strong for a few months now. But I noticed it’s growing algae. Is this bad?

Wrap it in black mylar or something similar. Algae needs light to grow.

I second that. Either wrap the calcium reactor or turn the light off or move the calcium reactor away from the light source.

Yes this is bad because the algae will eventually clog up your effluent and cause a big mess that's hard to clean up.

Besides clogging it wont hurt anything? I’ll definitely block the light from it.

Not that I can think of. That being said. I have never seen or heard of it before.
Not sure what happens to algae at say ph of 6.6.

Well... it definitely grows at that low of a ph!

I initially thought this as well, but if you think of tide pools that get very little o2 at times will grow algae. Those pools and puddles must have low Ph values.

It happens. I just put a sheet or something over it if I have this happen. Slide a piece of cardboard between it and the fuge light.
