I came home today to find parts of one of my SPS colonies with brown algae growing on many of its tips!! What would cause this and what can I do to stop this from getting worse! This is the only only coral I see this on. The coral still has nice Polyp extension everywhere else.

For some reason, the tips are dying off. That releases a lot of nutrients and spots for algae and cyano to grow.
Why your getting that die off I don't know.

Alk burn? White tips?

+1 on the Alk burn. If you can correct the cause then the coral will grow back.

Thanks. I just did a large water change so I hope that helps. I’ll test my Alkalinity lvl tomorrow and see where it is and if I need to do another large water change.
