Hello all,

I have had what I think is either bryopsis or Green Wiry Algae. This stuff came on some live rock about half a year ago. It's very tough to pull out and the foxface I used to have gobbled most of it. But ever since that passed away in my tank crash the algae has been making a comeback. Please if any of you guys know what this is and how to treat it. I've already tried traditional methods such as just go ham on the water changes and shut the lights off for a week. No reaction to both.

This is from Google but it looks like it

Were are you phosphates and nitrates at? Getting those two bad boys under control will really help getting algae under control.

Nitrates are at 15 ppm and phosphate is around 1. I have a API test kit so may not be exact.

Looks like the phosphates are the problem at 1. They would be best around .02 to .04, .04 being on the higher end. There are two products the do wonders on bringing down phosphates. Those are Phosphate RX and ATM agent green. The both us lanthuim chloride which can drop the phosphates pretty quick, and the use some GFO to keep the phosphates under control. Do not expect the algae to go away quickly, it my take 3 to 4 weeks.
