Hey anyone know what I’m dealing with

Out of curiosity, will doing a blackout for a week work? Last time I had this I broke down my entire tank, it took over everything and killed all my torches. And this message isn’t solely for the person who posted it, but anyone’s answer will probably help him out.

Yes, as cyanno is photosynthetic, though make sure it is cyanno

Does it blow off with a turkey baster? Cyano will usually blow off and the third picture looks like air bubbles. All the cyano I have had has been dark red or maroon is color but I know that’s not the only color.

What will prevent it from returning if you don't correct the underlying issue causing it after your blackout?

In blue light looks slightly red but white light it’s brown

I had too many Acro at that point in time and never entertained the thought of doing a blackout, but seeing his tank with a minimal amount of coral it definitely would be worth a shot.

Have you looked at this under a microscope? It’s possible this is Dino’s. Chemiclean is pretty effective at getting rid of Cyano.

What are you NO3 and PO4?

I’ve tried Chemiclean and Fritz red slim remover already no319 po4 0.3 last I checked but I need to go to the lfs to get it tested I ran out for my Hanna checker

I’d look at it under a microscope, even a cheap one from Amazon works. Check out the big Dino thread to see if it looks like any of those. To me it looks like it might be.

Pics are fuzzy to clearly tell. Im leaning towards din but can be cyano.
verify your nitrate and phosphate level by taking a water sample to an lfs that does not use API kits

This might be a tough species of cyanobacteria to get rid of. @taricha?
yeah, It looks more like cyano than anything else, but the resistance to two rounds of cyano meds is confusing. I'd consider that it might be mats with a bunch of non-cyano in it. Also the accumulations look really thick - wonder if the thickness offers some protection from chemical treatment.
If it were me at this point, I'd siphon out a bunch, run a 3 day blackout and reassess.
