So I’ve had this little bit of algae that I can seem to get rid of. Not totally sure what it is. At first I thought Dinoflagellates but I don’t think that’s the case. I’m running some phosguard and change my DI resin. For the most part it’s gone away. Do I just need to use it out a little longer? Also I will be setting up a new tank this weekend and moving everything to it. My idea was to fill the new tank with new water completely and add a new dry sand bed then scrubbing the rock before adding to the new tank.

Looks like green hair algae to me.

if your moving rocks, you can kill algae with hydrogen peroxide. But will probably kill your beneficial bacteria as well.

I have a little in my tank as well. I manually remove as much as possible. A good clean up crew will also help keep it down.

I have never dosed anything to get rid of it, but there are some products out there if your interested in going that route. I’m sure others will add there knowledge to this post, maybe they have used the products?
