Hey fellow reefers,

I need some help fighting this stuff! Might be Dino’s and red turf algae. Have tried over the last couple of months just water changes and sucking out as much of the stuff as possible, but doesn’t seem to be making too much progress. My parameters are as follows.
PH 8.4
ALK 7.6
PO4 .04
NO3 3.87
Sal 1.025

Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you,

You have cyano and perhaps diatoms. Have you done an ICP to check your RODI for residual silicate.? Get nitrates to 10, increase flow to affected areas. MB7 can help with cyano. Sand sifting goby would clean that up quick.

This appears to me to be dino . . . . But impossible to determine under heavy blue lighting. Please post a couple of pics under white lighting to best determine

Turn on white lights so algae can be accurately identified OP

Thank you
This is early stage dino. Easy plan and easier than it sounds:
Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15% IF you have light dependant corals) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights. If you dont have light dependent coral- turn all lights off.
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7 or XLM) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

For your corals, use the low blue mentioned as its only 5 days. Peroxide will have no effect as its water based but will oxidize the flagellates causing them to be suspended

If you don’t mind. List a the detailed steps for my situation. That would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
