Thank you. Its green turf algae. This type of algae is wiry, cosrse and have thicker than most pest algae. They may or may not have a mat like root structure and appear generally out of nowhere. You can scrub outside of tank with 3% peroxide as its a pain in the %%$% to control and remove by conventional means.
Adding clean up members such as emerald crabs, pincushion urchins, pith crabs and chiton snails should help with contrl once rock is scrubbed. Some use toothbrush for scrubbing - I like the auto detail brush from auto parts store.
