Anyone know what type of algae this, and more importantly what eat it? I've just been pulling it out with my hands but that seems a fruitless battle. My lfs told me it wasn't an algae at all but bacteria, could that be possible?

I have collected probably 500 pics of that exact issue before and after peroxide treatment 100% fix no harm zos

Lift out rocks, use a dropper to place peroxide only on the algae, let sit in air two mins, set back in tank dead in 24 hrs zos happy again in 48.

Are you talking about hydrogen peroxide, the stuff in the brown bottle?

It is the standard medical quality 3% it can come in both brown and black bottles, from grocery store is ideal, new bottle, not a flat one. a few drops placed on the algae out of water wicks among the strands selectively killing only that which is bad and leaving all the others. post follow up pics here's our peroxide thread

ill link your pics there if you like so others can see how predictable it is.

the zos arent particularly sensitive to peroxide but notice the technique is contact the target, not the coral, its a fair habit since we only want one rascal gone. paint it on, dropper on etc.
