Algae ID and should I get this off my snail?

Even filimentous hair algae has thali like that. Just scrape it off if it really bothers you.
In a healthy tank it would disappear on its own – probably browsed off by another grazer, but could even die off from inhospitable conditions.
I presume from the question that it didn't grow like that in your tank, right?
(BTW, it's very trendy but please don't treat your tank with antibiotics just because your snail has algae on its shell.
The consequences are barely understood. There are better ways. Plus the algae would be likely to grow back after the treatment anyway – check out the number of folks on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc treatment.)

How new (and therefor susceptible to algae) is this tank? The rock behind that snail looks pretty white!
Does it have corals yet?
Sorry Mcarroll, tank is a baby. Just started her up back in October. I was sort of thinking the same thing.. I could just toss the snail in the sump or scrape off the algae. Yeah def new tank though and waiting on that nice coralline to inhabit this pretty white rock. Other rock has some GHA but nothing too crazy. CUC has been doing a good job.

Also, I just got my first GSP in their on an isolated rock. I am happy.

Looks like Bryopsis. I would pull the snail from the tank, scrape off the algae from the snail, put the snail back, and monitor.
If it starts to spread to your rock work and what not...time for you to get some Fluconazole from https://payless-petproducts.com/fluconazole200.html and read that thread mentioned earlier. That stuff SUCKS!
