Second time posting this. I got several views but little response and wanted to try again. Would really appreciate insight on what algae I have. TIA
Original post;
This looks like a little of everything growing in my tank, hold the croutons. Can some help ID what I’ve got going on here?
Parameters are
Cal 420
Alk 8.9
Mag 1480
pH 8.4
Salinity 35 ppt
Po4 API looks like 0
Temp 77 f
Brown growth started on sand and is pretty well on the top side of all rocks and some is even flapping in the breeze on my overflow box. No bubbles on anything and this has been going on abt 3 weeks now.
Sump is running skimmer, foam sponge and fuge with macro on 4 hours of growstar ufo light. Should I bump up the light schedule maybe to compete with the salad?

Do you have any pictures not under a scope?

It's not close enough to make out important details but if I had to guess, it looks like a type of hair algae mixed with dinoflagellates. Could be diatoms though.

Thanks for your response! I will get a tank shot tonight with a close up of the crud. I noticed some was suspiciously like cyno (mistaken for coraline at a glance until i brushed it off the rock ) but with my Phosphates non existent, I find a nutrient over load to be unlikely. I think I have a higher magnification shot too which I will also add once I get home.

Non existant phosphates often lead to dino issues which backs up my feeling that those little brown circles aren't diatoms.

The green strings could be hair algae or cyano. Hard to tell at this magnification but I haven't seen clumps of cyano and dino's together like that, which is why I lean toward hair algae.

Sorry, but no one will be able to ID from the pic at that magnification. What magnification is it?

Can you post at 100x at all?

With the pic posted, it could be diatoms, dinoflagellates, cyano, phytoplankton and hair algae. We just can't tell.

Have you performed a re-constitution test at all?

Honestly not sure what setting I had it on at the time of the photo and didn't know how close to get it. the scope settings are 40x 100x and 400x so I am guessing this may be 40x. I will try to zoom in (I've never had much luck getting details on the highest magnification) to 100x and send a new image and a tank shot of the rocks themselves.
I am not familiar with a Re-constitution test. thanks for your input!

Here are two pics in the tank. The detail is a little dodgy but maybe it will help. I need to pull out my scope and zoom up to 100x so you can see more detail of that. Pic pending.

Well huh. Pics showed the upload. Let’s try again. If these double post, sorry.

Here are a couple shots under the microscope at 100x. 400 would never come to focus.

Yup, those are dino's. Not sure what species.
