I know there are tons of threads on algae. I've been trying to figure this out for days. I just can't seem to figure out what this algae is. It is tough and I can't really get it off with a toothbrush or anything. Started after cycle a few weeks ago with the rock work all turning green. I couldn't find a way to get it off of there. Now it has progressed to a hair type algae but it is not in clumps or Matt's. It's coating everything. Even the snails have it on their shells. Parameters all look to be spot on or even too low with all the top 3 being zero. I imagine the algae is not letting me get a good reading. I have cheato in one of my sump areas as this is an AIO tank. It did great and grew fast till this algae took off and now it's being overtaken by green algae. I've left that back there as I can control it more like a scrubber since the algae grows well back there. Any help would be greatly appreciated I can post more info as needed just trying to not make a book out of this.

You don't have much in your tank. I would either let nature run it's course or pull it out and put some hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and give it a spray, let it sit for a minute and put back in.

Update. .. .. I ended up pulling that nasty Florida mined rock and replacing with liferock. I did upgrade the skimmer to an eshopps psk 75h. Week later the rest of the algae disappeared and tank is crystal clear with no more algae. I still get very little diatom in which the Cuc make quick work of after lights out.

Did mean to mention that within 2 days of this posts the rockwork was seriously taken over. Note. .. Never use that rock. That $1.99 / lb looked nice but in the long run just isn't worth it unless you cycle it / cure it somewhere else I believe.
