Hey all, pretty stumped and have tried doing my own research but can’t seem to ID this algae similar to GHA except it has white dots at the ends. that has just spread everywhere in my tank rapidly. It’s on rocks, coral plugs, etc.

Going through a bad rough patch with my tank, just about every nuisance algae you can think of seems to be currently making it home.

Whatever it is also seems to be really making my Montipora unhappy. Usually has full PE, hasn’t the past week really

One day I will learn to just take the photo in white light and not be lazy. Here’s a better one

Nope, I had those in my tank at one point and that’s not it. It has a green base/string then at the tip is a white dot. Looks like a plant, super strange can’t find an ID on any list I look at

Digitate hydroids would be my guess. Better pic in whites would possibly be better .

Here is only white light, if it was hydroids I’d be shocked. The base of them looks green, and they don’t stretch out like the hydroids I’ve seen in my tank previously

Wow I haven’t looked at my tank with only white lights in a while. Looks absolutely terrible, about to nuke the whole thing with Reef Flux lol

hydroids. if you're dosing amino acids, stop, as this feeds them. i would also suggest to target feed while you wait things out. usually they appear in newer tanks but go away on their own. they can irritate corals, but not kill them (in my experience).

edit: the green slime could definitely be cyano

The green stuff might be cyanobacteria. The white spikes are something more interesting.

Yes the green slime is definitely Cyano which I’ve been battling, but the white/green spikes are what concern me. I really don’t think they’re hydroids
