So I thought I had diatoms, then cyano, then dinos but I'm really still unsure. Here are some pics. It's kind of covering everything and I can't blast it off with a turkey baster. I recently started running GFO and carbon and it seemed to help with the algae that was growing on the glass but not on the rocks. There are also some strands that look like long hairs.

Also it my mushroom leather has been closed and it looks to have this same algae growing on it. Ideas on what I can do and what kind of algae this is?

Do diatoms encrust? I was under the impression they were easily blown off rocks with a turkey baster. Any idea what the hair/stringy looking thing is in the 3rd pic?

Here are a couple new pictures and a video. It has been 1 week since cleaning my glass... this seems like a lot of algae for that period of time.

Where are your nitrates? My glass gets covered in about 3 days if I'm dosing nitrates.

My nitrates and phosphate both read 0. I'm not sure if that's an honest measurement or if they read 0 because the algae is consuming it all.

The tank has been running since late October. I completed the nitrogen cycle in about 3 weeks and have had a pair of clowns and some snails and hermits in the tank since then.

I was going to guess less than 6 months. Sounds like new tank syndrome to me. It should come and go by eventually stay gone. Keep up with your water changes and don't feed too heavily and you should be fine.
