I would say Dinos. Look at this document by @taricha and you may be able to tell which type:

Yup. That is how I’d describe them.

Yup, characterized as no bubbles and rarely grow on anything else. Sometimes confused as diatoms

My best suggestion would be to not do anything to drastic, too quickly to fight them. There are things you can do, but some may work and some may not. I semi-crashed my tank, lost a few fish, and shut it down after doing too much, too quickly. Accept them as a phase in your system and work on making small adjustments to beat them over time. Don't believe anyone that says you can beat them in 7 days, just do these steps, etc.

I’m pretty sure I’ve had them before in my old tanks. Very similar. I just let the tanks get dirty over time, no water changes, dosed bacteria, and used UV and h2o2 which may not work for this type.

Yes. Multiple types occur in our tanks and in wild samples.

Agree. The larger cell in these videos moves like large cell amphidinium or prorocentrum. (They have the same rhoomba-like motion)

So UV may help if there are a few types. I’ve been running that and letting algae grow in tank for about a week. They don’t seem to be getting worse.

is siphoning through a filter sock still a possible solution? Does that remove any good bacteria or algae?

Agree that uv and filtering both are good steps, because like you say multiple types co-occur.
