I cycled and ran my tank for a couple of months with all equipment running except lighting. Added my fish a month in and so have been feeding regularly for a month. Only nutrient export is via skimmer, have been struggling to grow chaeto.

I only switched on lighting a few days before I added corals and within a week got this algae/bacteria bloom. At first I thought it was diatoms but they started getting stringy - now am not sure if it's cyano or diatoms

Here's a video, the coloration is a dirty brown and is all over the rock, glass and sand where the light hits. Shadowed areas are relatively clean.

Could someone help ID what I have

My tank parameters:
NO3 - 25 ppm
PO4 - 0.03 ppm
ALK - 7.6
PH : 8.3

Thanks!

Looks like diatoms but I’m no expert. It’s very common to have any outbreak happen when you first turn the lights on. Some say it’s best to go through the cycle with the lights on to get the tank through the early “ugly” phase. Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Thanks! If it's diatoms then I will let the tank stabilize by itself. Was more worried it could be one if the other algae that needed to act on
