Hello everyone, i was just wondering if I could get some help to ID this type of algae. It mainly sticks to the parts of the rocks that receive direct lighting and is brown in appearance. It forms a sort of matt that seems pretty thick and does not really form filaments like cyano typically does. Nutrient levels are basically undetectable atm. Any clues?

Thanks! :)

Do a search for chrysophytes

obligate hitchhiker, not parameter caused. Rode in on a hard scape or fish slime coat. There’s a few treatment options none is best, searches w show the after pics.

You have a delicate job to do with a lysmata shrimp in tow if there is one in there, thought I saw. Dosing things to the water will likely stress him in addition to making him swim in target dieoff. Want to take your whole reef apart, clean it out, blast that stuff off the rocks in one pass? An option to consider. We did three jobs of that just this week.

Yes I do have one i. there indeed. Heard that dosing vibrant could help, might be a good thing to try?

W have to experiment to see if it works not sure on that mode
