Is this red algae some type of cyano or good healthy algae to have in my fuge?

They call it cotton candy algae Callithamnion. It is not good. Granted in a huge it doesn't much matter but I would not want to chance it making it's way into my display.

Mhh not going to easy to get rid of it, its all mixed in with my Chateo and rubble :(
Ah, google the stuff. I gave you the scientific nomenclature genus name and common trade name. It is certainly your tank and it is up to you to decide what action you want to take. Personally I would toss the stuff out and get some new cheato. If you don't want to deal with it and just let it be that is certainly your choice your choice to make, but at least now you know what you are dealing with.

Would turbo snails in the sump work on it over time?
They should eat what they can get to. All the cotton candy inside the ball of cheato will continue to grow since the turbo will only eat what they can reach on the surface.

How do you know?
Lol.

I bought some chato and calurpa.
After I killed the bryo, this flared up out of nowhere after months of not seeing it or adding anything new.

Went to the same lfs to look for corals, guess what was covering thier tanks.

Got the same stuff throughout my chaeto last six months. Sometimes more sometimes less. Never in the DT. At this point I figure it’s a red macro doing its job to suck up phosphates.
